Inspector Exam

Every SAFERhome Inspector must pass a basic online exam before they are considered for SAFERhome inspection certification. The exam, while not difficult, helps to ensure a degree of quality and a level of confidence in both the inspection service, and the Certification process as a whole. Inspectors first must be a member of the SAFERhome Standards Society and ASTTBC-registered before they are eligible to write the exam.



BCIPI Partnership

The SAFERhome Society will:

  • Provide training needed to gain certification.
  • Pay 10% commission to inspectors on all units pre-registered to be completed as Saferhomes and have been referred by said inspector(Pre-registration fees to builder/owner are based on number of units registered.
  • Upon registration of a SAFERhome the builder/owner must pay $149.00 fee to the SAFERhome Standards Society of which the inspector will receive $45.00. The average time required to complete a saferhome inspection is 15 to 20 minutes per unit.
  • Provide all rights and benefits of membership for existing or new membership category.
  • Promote the use of BCIPI members in all aspects of SAFERhome marketing and media.



5 Step Inspection Process

There are 5 basic steps in the SAFERhome Inspection process.

1. Inspector Signs up on the SAFERhome website and passes online exam.
2. Builder selects Inspector from the SAFERhome website.
3. Inspector connects with Builder and visits property (pre-drywall)
4. Inspection takes place and decision is made.
5. Inspector reports inspection results by logging into the SAFERhome website.
